THE BLUE OUR EXPERIENCE

What happens after you book?

Once you’re officially booked, the fun part begins! You’ll receive our wedding experience guide filled with helpful tips, recommendations, and everything you need to know about working with us.

From there, we’ll stay connected throughout the planning process. If you have questions, need timeline advice, or just want our opinion on something photo-related, we’re here. As your wedding gets closer, we’ll schedule a final call to walk through your timeline, family photo list, important details, and everything you want us to know before the day.

By the time your wedding arrives, we don’t want to feel like strangers showing up with cameras. We want you to feel comfortable with us, trust us, and know that we’ve got you.

What makes your photography editorial?

For me, editorial photography is about creating images that feel intentional, elevated, and timeless without making your wedding day feel like a photoshoot.

I’m intentional about composition, lighting, movement, posing, and the little details that make an image feel polished. I’ll step in and direct you when I see an opportunity to create that editorial image, but I also leave room for the real moments to happen naturally.

I want your gallery to have those wow images you’ll want to frame, while still capturing the laughs, tears, hugs, and completely unplanned moments that make the day yours. Editorial doesn’t mean overly posed—it means I’m always thinking about how to make the image the best it can be.

How involved are we during the wedding?

I’ll be honest—I embrace being a little bossy when I need to be! If the groomsmen aren’t listening, family members are wandering off, or we’re running behind, I’m going to step in and take charge. You have enough to think about on your wedding day, and making sure everyone is where they need to be for photos shouldn’t be one of them.

I’ll give you direction when you need it, keep things moving, and make sure we get what we need without making photos feel like a chore. At the same time, I know when to step back and let the candid moments happen. My goal is for you to trust me, enjoy your day, and not have to worry about the photo logistics at all.

How do we approach capturing your wedding day

We approach your wedding day with a mix of editorial direction, natural prompts, and genuine candids. We’ll step in and take the lead when you need direction, especially during portraits and family photos, but we’ll also know when to step back and let the day unfold naturally.

Can we create a shot list together, or do you have suggestions for important moments to capture?

Yes! We set up a time a month out to do your finalizer call for your big day and we can do calls sooner to go over ALL the big moments you want documented!

Have we shot at your venue...?

While we haven't been everywhere, we make sure to familiarize ourselves with your desired venue before we step on to the property. We also arrive early to scope out the perfect photo ops :)

YOUR WEDDING DAY - How we manage it

What happens if we are awkward with posing?

Don’t worry—we’ve got you! Most of our couples aren’t professional models, and we don’t expect you to be. We’ll guide you through your portraits so you always know what to do, while still leaving plenty of room for the natural, candid moments that make your photos feel like you.

What if we have difficult family dynamics?

You can tell me. Seriously. I’d much rather know ahead of time than have you stress about it on your wedding day.

Whether there are divorced parents, complicated relationships, family members who shouldn’t be photographed together, or just certain people you’d rather keep separate, we’ll talk through it before the wedding and build a plan around it.

On the day of, I’ll take the lead. I’m not afraid to be a little bossy when I need to be, and I’ll make sure family photos stay organized and respectful of your wishes. You shouldn’t have to manage your family while you’re trying to enjoy your wedding. That’s my job.

What happens if it rains?

Rain doesn’t automatically mean your photos are ruined—in fact, some of my favorite wedding photos have happened in less-than-perfect weather. I’m comfortable shooting in all kinds of lighting and weather situations, and I’ll help you make a plan that keeps the day moving.

If rain is in the forecast, we’ll talk through options ahead of time and figure out what makes the most sense for your venue and timeline. We can adjust locations, move things indoors, or embrace the rain when it makes sense. I’ll always prioritize keeping you comfortable while still creating beautiful, editorial images.

The weather may not be something we can control, but how we handle it absolutely is. And I’ll make sure you never feel like you have to panic because of a little rain.

What happens if our timeline falls behind?

First, don’t panic! Wedding days rarely run perfectly on schedule, and I’m used to working through it. If we start falling behind, I’ll step in, figure out where we can make up time, and prioritize the photos and moments that matter most.

This is also why I have a call with you before the wedding to walk through your timeline together. I want to make sure we’re building in enough time for portraits, family photos, and, most importantly, the moments you actually want to experience. The more we plan ahead, the more breathing room we have when something inevitably takes a little longer than expected.

And if we do fall behind? I’ve got it. I’ll keep things moving, communicate with your planner or vendors when needed, and make adjustments without putting that stress on you. You should be enjoying your wedding day—not worrying about what time it is.
I’ll prioritize the photos that matter most, communicate with your planner or other vendors when needed, and keep everyone moving. You shouldn’t have to spend your wedding day watching the clock—I’ll handle the photo side of things so you can stay present and enjoy it.

How do you handle different lighting situations?

Lighting is one of the things I’m most confident in. Whether we’re working with bright sun, a dark reception space, harsh midday light, candlelight, or a flash-heavy dance floor, I know how to work with it rather than let it work against us.

I’m comfortable using both natural light and flash, and I’m constantly looking at the light around us to decide what will make the image look its best. I don’t want you worrying about whether your venue has “good lighting”—that’s my job to figure out.

No matter what your wedding day throws at us, I’ll make sure your images still feel intentional, editorial, and true to the atmosphere of your day.
